Bargaining has resumed between management and the union representing 40 striking workers at Milk-Bone's dog treats plant in Buffalo. Dog Training Treats
Contract talks took place on Tuesday for the first time since the strike began Oct. 16, and again on Wednesday, said Rick Dahn, a business representative with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 65.
Not all of the workers at the plant are on strike. The 40 striking employees – among 277 total employees at the plant – work in maintenance and repair.
Forty workers at Milk-Bone have been on strike since Oct. 16.
"Milk-Bone has maintained production at the facility to ensure we continue to deliver on the needs of our consumers," said Frank Cirillo, a spokesman for J.M. Smucker, which owns Milk-Bone.
"We are maintaining open lines of communication with the Union and hope to come to a mutually acceptable agreement," Cirillo said.
The 40 workers rejected a tentative agreement before opting to go on strike.
